What do you do when you disagree or have a different viewpoint on a certain issue? Learn how Christians can disagree yet live in such a way that we remain in fellowship with one another.

Message Notes

ROMANS 14:1-23

Qualities of a disputable matter:

1)         It is an expression of devotion and commitment to Christ.

2)         It is NOT an issue of foundational doctrine!

3)         It is a secondary issue, and not worth fighting over.

Two Manifestations Of Sinful Responses

Romans 14:3

1)         The weak believer is commanded not to ‘condemn’ = (Judge or criticize)

 2)         The stronger believer is commanded not to ‘look down upon’ = contempt

The Reason We Shouldn’t Respond This Way:

They don’t answer to us!

 Romans 14:12

‘So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.’

 Romans 14:19

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.  Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.

Focus On:

1)         Doing what leads to peace

2)         Building each other up

3)         Staying true to your own convictions without insisting others share them
