The key to life and fruitfulness is abiding in Christ. Apart from Christ we can do nothing. The essence of obedience is loving God and loving people.

True Christian discipleship is about intimacy and impact, connection and fruitfulness!
-It is intimate friendship with Jesus (v.15)
-It is making daily, intentional choices to learn from Him(v.5),
-It is the wonder and privilege of knowing and praying His will(v.7,16b),
-It is loving others as He loves and experiencing joy as we do(v.11-12,17);
-it is bearing with suffering because of Jesus(v.18-19)
-It is testifying about Him (by the power of His Spirit), to a world who hates Him (and us)but desperately needs Him(v.27).
